Censcope

Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the ideals of self-sustainability, equality and social justice to the members of the society, it was founded in the year 2014 out of the need to give succor and support to the victim of arm conflict and natural disasters in Nigeria. CENSCOPE focuses mainly on promoting social cohesion, preventing and countering the narratives of violent extremism, conflict management, mitigation of human right abuses and gender based violence, promoting the principle of good governance and good public policy formulation, empowerment and provision of humanitarian services, lifesaving and livelihood skills to victims of violent conflict, as well as promoting political participation and social inclusion on the basis of gender, religion and disability. 

CENSCOPE is enhancing and strengthening the fabrics and structures of the society, and as well creating equal and sustaining empowerment opportunities across to members of the society. CENSCOPE partners with critical government institutions, private sector, philanthropies and non-governmental organizations in actualizing its mandate

Projects

  • CENSCOPE through a fixed grant partnership with Creative Associate International is fronting the Establishment of community peace building platform in Demsa LGA, Adamawa State
  • CENSCOPE is currently implementing a training and capacity building in partnership with Search for Common Ground to community leader on good governance, advocacy and conflict management in Monguno, Kukawa and Jere LGAs of Borno state
  • CENSCOPE is implementing a UK Government's Conflict Security and Stability Fund (CSSF); Hadin Kan Mu Karfin Mu (Our Unity, Our Strength): Reinforcing the resilience and reintegration of conflict affected women and children and promoting community peacebuilding in North East Nigeria
  • CENSCOPE is currently in partnership with NEEM Foundation for the development of peace building manual and training of diverse leaders on peace building and conflict resolution as well as providing technical support to Forum of Women in Peace and Security.
  • Community Resilience and Peace Networks (CRPN): In total efforts to actualize its mandate of promoting last lasting and sustainable peace in the society. In 2017 created a network of community members made up of mainly young people to periodically seat together and analyze the signs of conflict and possible signs of the break of law and order, CENSCOPE was able to inculcate and enhance the abilities of those community members to be resilient and advocates of peaceful coexistence. These platforms are still existing in Old Maiduguri of Jere LGA and as well Gamboru of Maiduguri Metropolitan council

Mrs. Hurera Atta is the Assistant Executive Director and Head of Education at Neem Foundation. A devoted advocate of human rights, civil liberties, and education – especially for girls from disadvantaged backgrounds – Mrs. Atta has built a legal and corporate career spanning over 25 years. As a lawyer, she handled high-profile and controversial human rights cases, representing young at-risk women. In her capacity as General Manager at Allan Woods Limited, she oversaw and spearheaded the development of the educational institution to bridge the gap in the area of professional development for Nigerian professionals.

Dr. Abiye M. Iruayenema is an expert sociocognitive research psychologist and strategic communications specialist. He is currently heads a mobile counselling and preventing violent extremism (PVE) initiative, which offers counselling in hard-to-reach traumatized communities in Maiduguri, Borno State. As an experienced academic and researcher, Dr. Iruayenama created vulnerability and needs assessments tools used for a UNICEF funded rehabilitation and reintegration programme for 1,500 Children Associated with Armed Groups. He has delivered several trainings revolving around self-care for humanitarian aid workers, social and emotional learning, as well as addressing psychological trauma in conflict zones.
