Elman Peace, in collaboration with the UNDP, is spearheading an exciting project - Bilalo Byetu. The grants allocated through this project aim to support Civil Society Organizations (CSO) specializing in activities that promote insider mediation, reintegration, and reconciliation efforts at the community-grassroots level in the Great Lakes region countries, specifically in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Uganda.

On Sunday March 13, 2022, an initial meeting was held in Niamey, the capital city of Niger. The Project is titled "Democratic Governance and Human Rights Through Implementation of the 64 Recommendations of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Formulated for Niger Relating to Young People and Women."

Following steps taken at Dourbali and Massenya - departments in the Chari Baguirmi province, the ACHDR team has just officially launched local planning and capacity building activities for local actors in the department of Ngoura, a province of Hadjer Lamis.

The important role of civil society in contributing to stabilization efforts, preventing violent extremism and facilitating inclusive reintegration, particularly in fragile and conflict-ridden regions, has been well recognized by the United Nations.
